Marriage Counselling & Family Therapy
I come from the belief that marriages and families are intricate systems that have developed a vast array of rules and ways of interacting that are generally helpful and adaptive at their onset. However, if family members or couples are experiencing discord, it often means these patterns of interaction have metamorphosed into a destructive way of communicating and being together.
Two approaches I use are mediation and restorative counseling. Mediation has application to marriages or family relationships that are in conflict and is a useful process for hearing everyone’s concerns and subsequently, establishing new rules and patterns of living. The second approach, restorative counseling, has at its roots, the purpose of facilitating forgiveness and healing in wounded relationships and focuses on new ways of living together harmoniously.
